Like a Boss.

I consider my self a very friendly person. I like to say "Good Morning", "How are you doing today", so on so on. But there are people that are just rude. Working in a environment were you have to be friendly sometimes doesn't work. You have to put up a fake smile for people that really don't deserve it. Just because you had a bad day at your house or the day before why should someone else pay for it. Suck it up buddy.

Also notice that a position will make people change. Just because you are a Manager or a Supervisor that does not make you the king or queen of the world. Makes you earn extra money and have more responsibilities. Oh and the perks you get. But we are still human beings. Don't be rude to those that work for you.

A greeting to your employees can make them feel good. Once in a while have a nice brunch set up for them. Or even incentives that make them produce better for you. There are jobs out there that don't have nothing to motivate the employees. And that is frustrating to the them.
Sometimes we find ourselves going the extra mile, trying to succeed in a environment that it's impossible to grow. You try to make a difference. But how can you if you don't get no support. Or even a "high five" for the awesome job you did. That is what makes the employees loose interest on that specific company they work for.

Don't create a persona that you are not. Try to be real truthful to your employees. Don't give them the run around when you promise something to them. And be energetic make an environment that is pleasant to work in. The coffee break lounge is always a great place to liberate some stress. Or even have designated smoke areas.

You can create an area where the employees can watch TV while they eat. Do the effort and have that 30 minute break with them. That will make a huge improvement on how the employee views the company. There is always something you can do as a Manager or Supervisor to make a great and enjoyable work place. But most important safe.

I don't mean that you need to cater to your employees. But if you want to succeed and have an award winning company you need to have your employees feel welcome in the work place. A greeting in the morning and at the end of their shift is great. Try it, it might improve your company and make it more friendly and family oriented.
