I have started liking technology from the moment I was able to put my hands on a Nintendo. That was the first device I was able to open and mess around with and still be able to play it. From there on I decided that I was going to get a degree on something that was going to help me in the future.
During high school I was involved in different geek stuff with my friends but never got to buy new devices due to the point that we didn't have the money. But as time passed I was able to acquire some technical knowledge on how a cable box worked and even a DSL modem. That was very interesting, due to the fact that we didn't have a modem at the house. But I also loved the si-fi movies that involved computer hacking and computer based wars. One of my favorite movies I can say that is Hackers.... yes it's old school but it was awesome.
So as times passed I was able to experience hands-on on different devices including game consoles, mobile devices (tablets, cellphones, laptops), tv's (HD, Plasma, Smart). Then I entered college. There was a whole new world about programs, programming, hacking, viruses and much more. I had my ups and downs, but in the long run I graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration on Computer Science. And I got to say, was the most interesting time of my life.
Today I sit writing this to the world about how technology has changed my life and has changed the world. My daughters will be involved in this new tech world. Where by the time they go to college, they won't even carry a text book because everything will be on the tablet, iPad, cellphone or even viewed threw their glasses. And we say that we are waiting for the Zombie Apocalypse, but I strongly believe that we ARE living those times. Our future (kids) are all about the electronic devices.
All depending on an electronic device to live their life (I include my self). Game consoles like the Wii, PS, XBOX and so on having kids do activities indoors. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to use electronic devices. But once in a while is good to open a book and read it. Be able to pick up the home phone and call a person. Or even sit at your desk and write an actual letter to a friend or your loved ones. Or even go OUTSIDE and enjoy nature. Play baseball or even basketball.
But that is the world that we are living. And it will continue to grow. A world controlled by technology.
Very good article. It makes me want to visit Puerto Rico for sure! It also opens your eyes to how scary the world is today depending on technology. I myself would like to bring back old school and teach my kids phones are for emergencies and get them outside to enjoy what life is really about. It's a crazy world we live in and hopefully we can bring back the good ole days. Until next time...JAC-A-LEEN out! :)
